Terms of Service
Draft – to be reviewed by counsel before launch. Last updated October 26, 2026.
These terms govern your use of Storelight, a cloud storage service for Mac and the web operated by Harlem Jacobsen Holding, Norway ("Storelight", "we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to them.
1. The service
Storelight lets you store files in the cloud and access them as a drive on your Mac and in a web browser. Files are encrypted on your device before upload. We store encrypted data on your behalf and cannot read its contents.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live.
- Keep your password and your 24-word recovery key safe. We cannot reset your encryption, and if you lose both your password and your recovery key, your files cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
- You are responsible for activity on your account.
3. Plans, billing and taxes
- Plans are sold by storage quota (1 TB to 30 TB) and billed monthly or yearly in advance.
- Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all orders. Paddle handles payments, sales tax/VAT, invoices and billing support. Paddle's buyer terms also apply to your purchase.
- Prices exclude sales tax, which is added at checkout where applicable.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; your plan stays active until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds are described in our Refund Policy.
4. Quota
Your quota counts everything we store for you: current files, earlier versions, items in the trash and unfinished uploads. If you go over your quota (for example after a downgrade) your drive becomes read-only until you are under it again.
5. When a subscription ends
If a payment fails we retry for 14 days and your account stays fully usable. After that, or after you cancel, your drive becomes read-only for 60 days so you can download your files. We email you 30, 7 and 1 day before your data is permanently deleted.
6. Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend share links or accounts that break it.
7. Availability and backups
We work to keep the service available and keep a second copy of stored data, but no service is perfect. Storelight is not a substitute for keeping your own backups of irreplaceable files.
8. Your content
You own your files. You give us only the rights needed to store, transmit and back up the encrypted data to provide the service.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is", and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
11. Law and contact
These terms are governed by Norwegian law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection in your country of residence. Questions: support@storelight.app.
